Personality tests

I don't understand why people like to take personality tests. It's like they need something in written form to tell them what kind of persons they are. Very often, when the result comes out to be different from their self-perception, they would just attribute it to the inaccuracy of the test, rather than accepting the possibility that the result may have uncovered the hidden sides that are unknown to them.

And that's precisely why i like taking personality tests myself. It's always fun to answer a series of silly questions and then get to reaffirm my perception of myself. And yeah, those that contradict my self-perception are indeed inaccurate. No doubt about that.

I took the Jung Typology Test online recently and i am of type INFJ (Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging). The result showed that i

  • moderately expressed introvert of 33%

  • moderately expressed intuitive personality of 38%

  • moderately expressed feeling personality of 25%

  • slightly expressed judging personality of 1%

Reading the analysis of INFJ profile sent shivers down my spine. It's simply shouting: me, me, me -- it's so darn accurate! And look at the people who are also INFJ: Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela. Ah, i've always known that there's something noble in me, just that it's yet to be discovered.

I had also asked my friends to fill up my Johari Window and only 5 of them managed to do it for me (it seemed like the site was always having traffic overload problem). Of all the adjectives available, "intelligent" is the one that everyone selected. All these friends are people who know me in person and so i guess i do appear to be intelligent in real life, whether or not i'm indeed so.

As for the negative side, only one of my friends fill up the Nohari Window for me. I figured that most of my friends didn't contribute to my Nohari Window either because they were afraid of me being offended by the criticism (which i wouldn't be), or i'm simply too perfect without any flaws.

Anyway, if anyone who's reading this decides to do the Jung Typology Test, do tell me what your type is so that i can have look and match it with mine. Also, anyone who thinks that you know me well enough, do contribute to my Johari and Nohari windows. I don't mind more people telling me that i'm smart, and it's not too healthy for me to go through life thinking that i'm perfect.
