Car problem

A piece of good news. We are finally getting StreamyX! Yes, after years and years of long wait, until the extent that we gotta resort to using the more expensive yet slower connection of Celcom 3G, we are finally getting the broadband access! The line will be activated in a few days time. I couldn't wait!

Went to Singapore yesterday to have our car checked. It wasn't the usual servicing but a check-up as we found something wrong with our car.

In January, the engine oil warning light had been showing up intermittently. Since we were about to reach the mileage when the car was supposed to be send for servicing, we just ignored it.

Then in February, we had the car serviced about two weeks before CNY. When 贝 drove the car back to BM, the engine oil warning light appeared again frequently this time. 贝 was very worried but he was on the road and there wasn't anything he could do. After the reached BM, he checked the engine oil and discovered that it was almost dried up already. So he sent the car to a garage in his hometown for checking and the technician told him that when engine oil was depleting so a fast and there wasn't any apparent leakage, then there must be something wrong with the engine. He advise 贝 to send the car back to the authorized service center since it's still under warranty. So 贝 topped up the engine oil and decided that we gotta have it checked when we were back in Singapore.

Yesterday at the car service center, the technician had a preliminary check on the engine oil leakage and told us that it seemed ok. He asked us a lot of questions that made it sounded like we didn't know how to check the engine oil. 贝 insisted that there was something wrong with the car and they then agreed to do a more thorough check.

True enough, after hours of waiting, we were informed that the engine oil was leaking internally and the cylinder needed to be changed. They didn't have the spare parts now and we gotta wait for two weeks for the parts to arrive. Since changing of the cylinder involved great effort, it would need two days for the job. We then asked them if there was gonna be any replacement car during the two days, and the answer was negative. The technician said that since the car is under warranty, the work and the parts are gonna be free of charge. Yet, as for the transport problem, we gotta settle it ourselves.

Seriously, i found that rather unacceptable. If we are talking about total customer satisfaction here, this kind of service level will definitely fail the standard. C'mon, the defect of the car is of no fault of ours, but we are gonna be penalized with extra transportation costs during the time they are fixing the poor quality of their product? And the car isn't even 6-month old! Frankly, this is very disappointing, especially compared to the customer service of Toyota.

I'm gonna do something about it. Oh yeah, you bet i will. This is the time when i should be behaving like a Singaporean, you know, comprain lah! I contacted the sales lady who sold us the car and she told me to fight for it. She told me to bring it up to the service manager, be demanding, and keep asking "then how? then how?" if they don't budge.

Ok, 贝 for sure won't be doing that, so i guess i gotta be a bitch for that. And no, in case you are thinking, i'm so not good in being bitchy. Nuh-uh.
