The 8th Foon Yew Treasure Hunt (IV)

4.30pm to 5.45pm

The last stop was Port Dickson of course. Boy, were we stressed by this time. Only about half an hour before the deadline and we still had about 18km of journey with 12 clues to crack.

The answers were scattered around the town of Port Dickson, and the route direction was hard to decipher. Unlike the previous hunt, there wasn't a map of the town indicating the specific streets where the answers were supposed to be found. We were kinda lost and just drove around the town several times to look for anything that was likely to be the answer. To add on challenge, it was showering and the bad weather made it difficult to search for the answers through the car windows.

We were seriously running out of time. The team decided not to waste more time in solving the clues and incur the late submission penalty. So we simply put down anything that had the remotest possibility of matching the clues and submit the final answer sheet together with the memory card that contained the photos of the answers at around 5.20pm, 20 minutes later than the stipulated time and supposedly to incur a 10 points penalty.

We met Sui at the checkpoint. Her team submitted the answers right before our team. There were also many other teams having their tea break in the kopitiam where the checkpoint was located. Even though we saw some participants still searching for the answers, we suspected that we were among the last few teams to hand in our answers.

It was still raining and we decided to head directly to the resort where we were to spend the night.

6.00pm to 7.00pm

Finally, after travelling for more than 350km in more than 10 hours, cracking our brains and searching high and low for the right solution to the clues, we reached Glory Beach Resort.

Just like any other resorts in that area, Glory Beach Resort was located by the seaside. The outlook of the resort wasn't too appealing, with the building resembling the old HDB flats.

Each team was assigned to a single unit of 3-bedroom apartment. The interior of the apartment wasn't too bad. There was a living room, a small kitchen and connecting dinning place, two double rooms with a queen-size bed and connecting bathroom, and a small single room. The living room and the two double rooms had air-conditioning, but the single room only had a ceiling fan. So we moved the single bed mattress to one of the double rooms, where i'll be sleeping together with Siang and her daughter.

I didn't take pictures of the apartment or the resort. The only photos i took were the view from the balcony of the apartment:

The dinner would be held at 7pm in the big convention hall with the design of a huge tent. The answers would also be revealed but the winners would only be announced on the following day due to the vast number of participating teams and hence longer time to tally the scores.

While waiting for dinner, we spent time in the apartment by chit-chatting and playing with the little girl. Both Carol and i had bought some educational toys and sticker books for her in case she felt bored during the journey. It did come in handy and i think she had fun with the books and toys.
