More on the election

Again, this is not a political post but some of my inane ramblings.

Being in Singapore during the weekdays mean that we don't get to read the Malaysian newspapers until weekend. Ya, i know we can access the online Malaysian news, but some of the things you just don't get to see online.

Anyway, was back in JB late last night because we decided to take a day off today. So it was interesting to have a look at the newspapers on the last day of the election campaign.

Gee, i was sure amazed at how rich BN is... you know, there are full-page advertisements all over the newspapers. And look at the oppositions, gosh, all are those pathetic little squares hiding somewhere at a corner of the newspaper, easily overlooked by the readers.

So, let's look at today's headline:

Ah, playing the racial card, huh?! Isn't this exactly what i mentioned in my previous post? So you see how propaganda works its way? No wonder that old uncle believes that MCA is the saviour of the Chinese in Malaysia.

Ok, then here's another propaganda that calls itself "the truth":

And to make their point, they even showed the news of Taiwan underneath the message:

Eh, hello, excuse me, everyone knows how messy the politics is in Taiwan. The Taiwan government has spent too much time over the years on politics and neglected the country development. When i was in Taiwan last time, a cab driver complained to me how difficult the people's lives are now in Taiwan because how messed-up their politics is.

So, if you wanna compare, can you please at least take some other countries that are doing better, such as Singapore?

And the best of all is this "let's count our accomplishments" bullshit that spans over two full pages:

Frankly, i didn't spend my time reading through each and every one of these craps. I mean, why bother? What's so difficult in listing out the pseudo achievements and not mentioning even one bit of failure? It's just how you manipulate the words, how you phrase your sentences.

You know, erm, something like if a kid has a curfew at 10pm (something he should do), but he always stays out late and gets home at 2am (his failure). Then one day he gets home at 1am. Can he then proudly declares to his parents that he gets home one hour earlier than the time he used to be home (his accomplishment), so his parents should just shut up and stop nagging at him?

Well, maybe not a very good analogy, but you get the drill.

Oh, and for the last few items on the list that are marked as "in progress", let see if these will still be in the list 5 years later.

Such as the last one on building up the Internet broadband infrastructure of the country, how many years have we been doing it? Ya, ya, there is progress, slowly but surely, i know. Yet, are you telling me that i should say "hallelujah" to something that takes others 5 years to do but take us like forever to get it done? Duh!

Again...
you can view the 'truth' from this online newspaper ^_^

God bless ROCKET and all the best to you.
